Packaging & Display Development
I had previously decided that my 'freebie' would be well suited to being a giveaway at a technology show or exhibition to promote my cloud service.
This will require my display stand to be quite eye catching and give some indication to what the product is, and the packaging should be minimal, that shows off the USB but also protects the product. Consideration should also be given to the sizes of these items.
The Packaging
The packaging must represent what the product is all about and is intended to compliment the USB memory stick, not just contain it.
This will be the first source of information into the new service, the 'Droid' USB will draw the interest and the packaging will contain the first lot of information.
It is intended that the packaging will be a small box that is only fractionally larger than the USB stick to allow it to be easily placed into a pocket or a 'goodie' bag often full of collectibles by exhibitions goers.
Below is my initial sketch development of my packaging ideas that will be later refined in CAD.

The Display
The display stand is intended to be the first eye catcher to draw in exhibition goers to the promotional freebie, and due to the nature of the product and the type of exhibition it will be promoted at I feel should be slightly novelty that grabs attention.
With this in mind I will base the main body of the stand on the Android logo, with added detail to promote the service and the USB stick.
The stand will need to be of a reasonable size to be large enough to stand out and grab attention, yet not so big that it over powers what is essentially quite a small sized giveaway.

Below shows my initial sketch development of my display stand which like the box will be further developed during CAD development and will be designed around the dimensions of the USB stick and its packaging.
With my freebie promoting a cloud service I felt it important that this symbol be utilised in my display stand as this is the typical smart device symbol used to represent the sharing feature of these devices.
